On the weekend of Saturday and Sunday November 4 & 5 of 2017, the Integrative Medicine US team attended a Functional Medicine Boca Raton Seminar at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center.
“Fundamentals of Blood Chemistry”
The event is hosted by Apex Energetics, one of the pioneering leaders in Functional Medicine in the United Sates.
The head Doctor that wrote the curriculum is the only chiropractor ever invited to conduct research at Harvard University.
He is currently researching the topic of Neuro-Immunology. In additional, Apex is one of the leading suppliers of the highest quality, medical grade vitamins, supplements and functional nutrition products in the US.
The event was about laying out the foundation of interpreting blood laboratory results, identifying patters within functional medicine ranges and using that information to lay out a functional nutrition plan for patients that would consider their holistic health.
Although most Doctors will not diagnose or treat a patient until their blood results reach a lab standard low or high, many times the patients will experience an array of symptoms that can not be explained or treated by conventional medicine. The point of functional medicine is to use an integrative health approach.
By examining the physiology, looking for specific established patterns within the blood work and ordering advanced and expanded panels, the functional medicine doctors can pick up on things that most physicians are not trained for.
Topics for the weekend included; Blood Perfusion and how blood flow affects every system in the body, Thryoid and Hormones, Brain-Gut Axis, Liver and Gallbladder Detox, Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistance, Cholesterol, Diabetes, Functional Reactice Hypoglycemia, Hyperglycemia, a dozen different types of Anemia, Auto-Immune Disease, Cardiovascular, Kidney and Liver Disease, all sorts of Gastrointestinal issues and much more. Part of the course is about reading the blood work, knowing which specialty tests to order based on inconclusive results and knowing when to refer your patient out for conventional western medical treatments, whether it be the Emergency Room or their Primary Care Physician.
The guest speaker for the event was, Dr. Steven Noseworthy, a clinically trained Chiropractor who has been practicing Functional Medicine and Integrative Nutrition for over ten years.
Besides these seminars,The Integrative Medicine US team works with leading Nutritional Counselors, Formularies and Pioneers in the field that are on the board of nutraceutical manufacturers and stem cell therapy researchers.
