Parkland Tai Chi Classes at MSD with Coral Springs Acupuncturist and Stoneman Douglas Alumni, Dr Jonathan M Fields AP, DOM. Qi Gong in Parkland for PTSD.
On May 12 of 2019, Dr Jonathan M Fields, Parkland Acupuncture Physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine from Coral Springs, FL was invited to teach Parkland Tai Chi classes at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as part of their Yoga program by Instructor Amy Kenny.
Dr Fields is an MSD alumni from the class of 1998 and was in the midst of planning his twenty year reunion when the tragedy took place. Since that time, he has been volunteering his services and donating his time and teaching tai chi classes in parkland at various events and fundraisers as well as qi gong, meditation and offering group acupuncture. He currently teaches meditation and acupressure at eagles haven wellness center and qi gong every Saturday morning at his acupuncture and integrative medicine center in Tamarac, FL. Since Mental Health Awareness is one of Dr Fields’ specialties, he has been using skills to help the community through many different event. He is also a board member and a published author for the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Specialty Committee for Mental Diseases.
The guest acupuncturist taught two, one hour classes. One to the advanced class and one to the beginner class. There was about 30-40 students per class ranging from 14-18 years of age.
